The Mill House
Mill House Ventures supports both ‘for-profit’ and ‘not-for-profit’ social ventures - enabling them to work side-by-side challenging, collaborating and supporting each other in their mutual aims of creating sustainable, scalable social change.
The mission is to grow a high-quality pipeline of investible social ventures in the ACT and regions for corporate, foundation and individual social impact investors.
The founding consortium includes SERVICE ONE, the University of Canberra and CBR Innovation Network and is an initiative of the ACT Government.
Participants in Mill House Social Enterprise Accelerator programs receive advice and mentoring, an entrepreneurial education and targeted assistance specific to the venture.
What is a social enterprise?
Social enterprises are businesses that trade to intentionally tackle social problems and improve the communities in which they operate.
They are organisations that:
are driven by a public or community cause, be it social, environmental, cultural or economic
derive most of their income from trade, not donations or grants, and
use the majority of their profits to work towards their social mission.
As a social enterprise, we’re passionate about growing the sector and seeing more like-minded organisations grow and thrive. Our support of the Mill House is just one example of this.
